Challenge

With the energy sector in the midst of major upheaval, TransAlta needed to prepare its employees to respond to ongoing change. The company wanted to train teams to collaborate better, develop new ideas and implement their ideas effectively. To minimize complications and expedite internal change, the company aimed to introduce a common process for new initiatives that could apply across all departments.

Solution

TransAlta chose ExperienceChange™ for employee training because of the workshop’s streamlined approach to change management, which introduces one clear method that an entire company can use. ExperiencePoint certified three Human Resources employees as ExperienceChange™ facilitators, who proceeded to train Executives, Vice Presidents, and 200 members of staff. After two years of company-wide training, employees were empowered to kickstart change projects across the organization.

Result

The training introduced a common language for change at TransAlta and gave employees a clear understanding of how to plan and implement it. Leaders acquired tools to deal with the personal and organizational elements of change and the Human Resources team developed a strong understanding of staff challenges.
