Santa's Little Helper

Inspired by his favorite reality programs, Santa Claus invited eight elves to the North Pole for the purpose of selecting one as his new protégé. Through a series of rigorous holiday competitions, Santa has whittled down the group to the final two candidates - congratulations, you're one of them! Now you must manage a rag-tag team of previous cast-offs in one final competition. Succeed, and you will have earned the coveted position of "Santa's Little Helper".

Start the exercise and immediately review the 'Background Information':

Objective - learn more about your specific task
Budget - review benchmarks for expenditures
Personnel Files - understand who is on your team

When you feel ready, please click on the START NOW! button (4) and the clock will start running! You will see that the interface has six key elements:

Information - provides key info for the activity at hand
Metrics - tracks changes in your time remaining, budget, and your team members' good cheer
Activity description - explains your immediate challenge
Options - provides a list of all options available for the activity
Continue - submits your decision and allows you to proceed to the next activity
Background Info - allows you to access the "Background Information". When you are viewing the background information your timer will continue to tick.

Prioritize and determine the order in which you will 'take down' the various activities associated with your task.

Next, you will decide whether to do an activity yourself or delegate it to a specific member of your team. As you delegate, be sure to monitor the 'elf cheer' meters and feedback (1) for each of your team members.

Remember, the clock (2) is now running so you better move quickly! Also, be mindful of your budget (3)!

You will now make decisions for each activity.

Presented with options (1) and their associated costs (2), select what you will do and click 'Continue' (3). If you chose to do something yourself, you will see all the options available. If you chose to delegate (4) to a team member, that individual will provide you with his or her recommendations.

The simulation will end when you complete all the activities or when Santa shows up (i.e. when time expires). If you have made good decisions, you will become "Santa's Little Helper"!
